Scripture Rosary for the Month of Mary. 7pm tonight

Archbishop John Wilson invites everyone to join him for a special online gathering on Wednesday 27 May. He will be leading live-streamed May Devotions – including a Scriptural Rosary at 7pm from the Cathedral. At this time when we are asked to be more isolated than usual it is an opportunity to ‘spiritually gather’ together.

A Scripture Rosary –The Mysteries of Light

Archbishop: Dear friends, thank you for joining us to pray the Scripture Rosary as part of our devotions for the Marian Month of May.

We will be praying the Five Mysteries of Light and before each of the ten Hail Mary’s for each mystery there will be a short line of Scripture. Our Rosary will conclude with the Litany of Our Lady of Walsingham.

In this special year of The God who Speaks, linking the Rosary with the Scriptures is especially appropriate. We pray together on the Feast of St Augustine of Canterbury, the Apostle of England and a Co-patron of the Archdiocese of Southwark.

+ In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried, He descended into hell; the third day He arose again from the dead; He ascended into Heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty, from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.  Amen.

  9. And a voice came from the heavens, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.”  (Mark 1:11)  Hail Mary…

are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Rise, pick up your mat and walk’?  (Mark 2:8,9) Hail Mary…

Hail, holy Queen, mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile show us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary. (Leader) Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God.  (Response) That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let us pray: O God, whose only begotten Son, by His life, death, and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal salvation. Grant, we beseech Thee, that while meditating on these mysteries of the most holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, that we may both imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise, through Christ our Lord. Amen.  Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us. Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us.
