We seek applications from those of the Catholic faith, all faiths and of no faith but who are supportive of our Christian values and ethos.

About the Role

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding, ambitious and inspirational Subject Leader of Physical Education to lead our highly successful PE department and build upon its recent achievements. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic teacher and leader to shape the future direction of PE, sport and physical wellbeing across the whole school, including Sixth Form.

The successful candidate will join a thriving Catholic school community where students are well behaved, motivated and eager to participate both in lessons and in the extensive programme of extracurricular sport. The department enjoys a strong reputation for academic and sporting excellence and plays a central role in school life.

The Role

This is a full time permanent role. As Subject Leader of PE, you will provide strategic leadership for the department, ensuring that all students are inspired to achieve their full potential in both physical education and sport. You will:

  • Lead and manage a successful and dedicated PE team
  • Drive continued improvement in student achievement and progress across all key stages
  • Develop and enhance a broad, ambitious and engaging PE curriculum
  • Monitor and evaluate teaching, learning and assessment to secure excellent outcomes
  • Promote inclusion and participation for all students
  • Further develop the school’s strong extracurricular and competitive sports programme
  • Foster a culture of excellence, enjoyment and lifelong participation in physical activity

About the Department

PE is a vibrant, high-performing and highly valued subject within the school. The department has enjoyed significant recent success, both in examination outcomes and competitive sport, and plays a central role in promoting the school’s culture of aspiration, teamwork and excellence.

In recent years, students have achieved strong outcomes in GCSE and Post-16 PE courses, with consistently high levels of progress and engagement. The department has also celebrated success across a range of competitive sports, with teams regularly competing and achieving success at local, district and county level. Participation in extracurricular sport continues to flourish, with large numbers of students representing the school and contributing to its reputation for sporting excellence.

The PE department is committed to developing the whole child and provides a broad programme of opportunities including competitive sport, leadership development, officiating, coaching and enrichment activities. Students are encouraged to develop resilience, confidence, teamwork and leadership skills alongside their academic achievements.

We are looking for a leader who can build upon these recent successes, further strengthen examination outcomes and continue to grow participation and achievement across the school.

About Our School

Our school is founded on the values of Love, Respect and Flourish, which underpin every aspect of school life. We are proud to serve a diverse and inclusive community where each young person is known, valued and encouraged to develop their unique God-given talents.

Our students are one of our greatest strengths. They are respectful, ambitious and enthusiastic learners who respond positively to challenge and have a genuine pride in their school community. They actively engage in the wide range of sporting, cultural and enrichment opportunities available to them and demonstrate excellent attitudes both in lessons and beyond the classroom.

The school serves a diverse community and is proud of its inclusive ethos, where every student is encouraged to discover and develop their God-given talents. Sport is an important part of that journey, helping pupils to develop confidence, resilience, leadership and a lifelong commitment to health and wellbeing.

Sport and physical wellbeing are central to our vision for developing confident, resilient and successful young people. We recognise the important role PE plays in promoting health, character development, teamwork, leadership and resilience.
