Librarian and Literacy Intervention Co-ordinator

The governors of this very successful Catholic High School wish to appoint a Librarian and Literacy Intervention Co-ordinator for our Aquinas Centre (Learning Resource Centre).

Administrate all aspects of the management of the Aquinas Centre;

Work closely with the schools Communication strategy team to support pupils in improving their literacy skills;

In addition to managing the Aquinas Centre. A key part of the role is to work in partnership with the school’s Communication Strategy Team to help implement the recommendations from the EEF Report “Improving Literacy in Secondary Schools” with a focus on reading, oracy, academic vocabulary, and disciplinary literacy. In collaboration with the English Department and the Learning Support Department, the Centre Manager will be responsible for leading small group interventions to support improved outcomes. He/she will help to coordinate whole-school testing of pupils, analyse data, and organise reading interventions such as guiding reading sessions, with our weaker readers. The successful candidate will also play a key role in raising the profile of reading in our school community through advertising developments and celebrating achievements to both pupils and parents.

The job will be paid at Grade 6 and is term time only, 32.5 hours per week (08.40 to 15.40). The full year, full time salary would be in the range of £29,071 to £33,119 – as this is a term-time, part-time contract, the actual salary will be in the range of £21,591 to £25,273.
