What is the Postgraduate Teacher Apprenticeship?
The Teacher Apprenticeship is a school-based training programme. This pathway is completely free for the learner, as it is funded through the Apprenticeship Levy.
- Learners will be employed by their school and receive a salary on the Unqualified Teacher Pay scale whilst they learn.
- Successful completion of this programme will result in the award of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a Level 6 Teacher Apprenticeship Qualification.
What’s covered
Apprentices will:
- Gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) over 12 months + End-Point Assessment
- Train 4 days a week in your school, with 1 day of online or Face-to-Face learning
- Access dedicated support from an in-school mentor, personal tutor and wellbeing champion
- Apply best practice in pedagogy, classroom management and curriculum
- Reflect on how Catholic values shape their teaching and vocation
Catholic identity is woven throughout the course, preparing trainees to contribute fully to the school’s spiritual and academic life.
Catholic Teaching Alliance (North)
The Preston-based Catholic Teaching Alliance (CTA) is a partnership of Catholic primary and secondary schools and post-16 colleges with a shared vision and commitment to providing first-class Initial Teacher Training (ITT).
The Catholic Teaching Alliance is committed to working collaboratively with all of our partners in order to achieve our vision and to build a reputation as an outstanding provider.
The schools that support our teacher training programme share our vision and commitment. In addition to equipping trainees with the skills and knowledge required to teach their subject, we aim to provide them with the opportunity to appreciate the distinct nature of working as part of a Catholic community.
