Pope Francis Catholic Multi Academy Trust is a family of Catholic schools, established by the Archbishop of Liverpool, at an exciting turning point in its development. We currently have four secondary schools and four primary schools, with a number of schools set to join the Trust this year as we grow significantly.
Inspired by the Gospel and the teachings of Pope Francis, we are united in our mission to provide the very best Catholic education that encourages every person to strive, achieve and flourish, mindful of the needs of others, with no one left behind. Our values of Joy, Mercy, Service, Dignity and Solidarity are not just words: they are our way of working, learning and being.
We understand that each school is unique and has its own distinctive community to serve. Our model is not transactional or one of entitlement, it is one of accompaniment, support and challenge within a family of schools. In the last twelve months we have seen real progress and momentum across our secondary phase, and we are excited by what we can still achieve.
About the Role
Our secondary schools have started working together more closely and have a broadly aligned Mathematics curriculum and shared ways of working. However, outcomes in Mathematics are below other subjects across the Trust, and we are determined to change that. We want to appoint an experienced, visionary and credible Mathematics specialist to work alongside our Headteachers and Heads of Mathematics – ensuring that every child is confident with numbers and achieves the grade they deserve.
This is a key opportunity to be part of the newly expanded School Improvement Team at PFCMAT. It is a Trust-wide leadership role that combines curriculum design, quality assurance, strategic influence and foundational numeracy. The right candidate will bring deep subject expertise and the credibility to lead both operationally and strategically across a growing family of schools.
The Ideal Candidate will:
• Be a graduate with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and an outstanding record as a Leader of Mathematics
• Have demonstrable, evidential impact on raising attainment in Mathematics through middle or senior leadership
• Be an excellent classroom practitioner who can model best practice and enthuse both students and staff
• Have experience of effectively teaching intervention groups at KS3 and KS4, and a secure knowledge of curriculum requirements from KS2 through to KS5
• Be confident in interpreting the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework and supporting schools’ readiness for inspection
• Be highly skilled in CPD design, delivery and staff coaching with the ability to support ECTs, Maths leads, SEND leads and senior leaders
• Understand foundational numeracy and how gaps in number can be identified and closed across primary and secondary phases
• Be supportive of the Catholic ethos of the Trust, flexible, self-motivated, reflective and driven
• Be committed to safeguarding, equality and inclusion
