“The governing body and leaders support pupils’ wider development. They are committed to making sure that pupils are prepared well for life in modern Britain” Ofsted October 2022

“Careers, advice and guidance is very strong across the school” Ofsted October 2022

The school was judged “good” by Ofsted in October 2022 and “outstanding” by the Archdiocese of Southwark in June 2025.  Our Roman Catholic, Salesian school, in the heart of Battersea, strives to ensure that all its young people are given the opportunity and support they need to achieve their best, fulfil their true potential and go out into the world confident and ready to ‘earn their own bread.’

St John Bosco College are looking to appoint an able, highly motivated, enthusiastic and innovative Teaching Assistant (TA) to join a supportive, passionate and dedicated team of professionals. Our mission is based around ‘without confidence and love, there can be no true education’. We are therefore looking for candidates who are committed to securing high standards and raising academic attainment for all students. As a TA for the Art Department you will lead in supporting the school’s dedicated team of Art teachers in preparing for practical lessons for students and then supporting students in classes.

The main responsibilities of the TA role will be preparation of resources for art lessons and supporting in class both with individual students and small groups under the teacher’s guidance.

Previous experience of supporting secondary-aged students would be desirable but is not essential. You must have good literacy and numeracy skills. You must be committed and reliable with excellent communication skills along with a calm, patient and empathetic nature.

It is also an opportunity for career development as the school offers a regular training program including access to NVQ qualification for Teaching Assistants.

Applications are invited from those with good interpersonal skills and experience in working in creative departments in a school environment.

Early applications are welcome and we reserve the right to appoint before the closing date if we find a suitable candidate.

Closing date: 9AM, Friday, 11th September 2026

Interview Date: TBC

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
