The Palmer Catholic Academy

Teacher of Science plus KS3 Co-ordinator

Full Time 1.0 FTE

Salary: Main Pay/Upper Pay Scale plus TLR2B

Required for September 2026

Are you passionate about Science?  Our Science Department consists of a team of dedicated teachers ranging in experience from ECTs to Senior Leaders and Lead practitioners, together with a science technician.  The department has 10 fully stocked labs designed around science being a practical subject with three science prep rooms facilitating this.

The Trustees are seeking to appoint a dynamic and inspirational teacher of Science, who will also be the KS3 Co-ordinator.  The successful candidate would be expected to teach across the age and ability range, up to and including A Level and build on the solid foundations already in place and bring learning to life and inspire our students.  The Science Department is a thriving and well-resourced department that achieves very good exam results and contributes positively to the wider life of the academy.

The Palmer Catholic Academy is a very successful, over-subscribed 11–18 mixed, multi-cultural, voluntary-aided comprehensive Academy in the London Borough of Redbridge.  Although a Catholic academy, we welcome applications from Catholic and non-Catholic teachers.

The Palmer Catholic Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  All posts are subject to pre-employment checks.  References will be sought and the successful candidate will be required to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service check.  Shortlisted candidates will be subject to online social media checks.

Full details of the post and application forms are available on the academy’s website at https://www.tpc.academy/.  The closing date for completed applications is 12.00 noon on Friday 17th April 2026.  Completed application forms should be emailed to the Headteacher’s PA, Ms Bolton, at jbolton@tpc.academy.

Please note that we do not accept CVs or applications from agencies. Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications for the role. Therefore, if you are interested, please submit your application as early as possible.
