Due to our current Curriculum Leader of Science relocating, we are looking for a brilliant Curriculum Leader of Science to lead our curriculum from Year 7 through to A-level. You should be an experienced teacher with a track record of success at GCSE and A-level, and a passion for making science come alive for students.
A key part of this role is ensuring our curriculum never stands still; you will constantly review and adapt what we teach to keep it modern, challenging, and effective for all learners.
Beyond managing the department, you will be a supportive mentor to your colleagues and an active part of our wider school community.
Here at St Bonaventure’s we look after and nurture our staff looking to develop them through department specific CPDs and manage teacher workload by ensuring that a plethora of shared resources are available to aid delivery of the curriculum. Our Science Department aims to develop students’ analytical, observational, communication, and critical thinking skills, abilities that are not only essential in Science but are also transferable across the wider curriculum.
We are committed to fostering a genuine enthusiasm for the subject by delivering learning in a structured yet engaging and creative environment. Students are consistently encouraged to challenge themselves and reach their full potential, with a strong focus on mastering key concepts.
Beyond the classroom, we enrich students’ experiences through a range of opportunities, including clubs, trips, and wider scientific engagement, helping to bring the subject to life.
As a department, we are dedicated to the continuous development of our curriculum, ensuring effective modelling of key concepts and the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning.
We teach students across the full ability range from ages 11 to 18. At GCSE, students follow the AQA examination board, and at A Level, they study courses set by the Edexcel examination board.
We have a long and distinguished history of educating boys aged 11-16 in the East End of London. Our thriving co-educational 6th Form is ethnically and religiously diverse, attracting students from across many local schools.
