‘’I have come that they may have life to the full’’ John 10:10
St Aloysius’ College is a high-achieving comprehensive Catholic school, with an admission number (PAN) of 150, located in the London Borough of Islington. It is in the top two schools in Islington for GCSE Attainment 8 (for the second consecutive year in 2025) and in the top 10% of all schools nationally. The school is also the highest performing secondary school in Islington for pupil attendance and has received a number of attendance awards.
St Aloysius’ College has a thriving Sixth Form, with 60% of students securing places at Russell Group universities in 2025. The school joined the highly successful All Saints’ Trust in September 2025 and became co-educational from September 2025, starting with Year 7. Founded by the Brothers of Mercy in 1879, St Aloysius’ College is proud of its Catholic tradition and is privileged to be the oldest surviving foundation of its kind in the Archdiocese of Westminster.
The school is at an exciting stage of development. The new Headteacher will build on the current momentum and reputation, further strengthening the school’s position as an exceptional and highly sought-after choice for families.
The college engenders respect for the individuality and integrity of each person, recognising that all men and women are God’s creation. The Catholic mission is central to school life and evident in its ethos, curriculum and wider community relationships.
Experienced and supportive Governors recognise that the school is on its journey towards ‘Exceptional’. There is clear and unmistakable momentum that now needs to be harnessed by a strong and inspirational leader. With vision, ambition and strategic clarity, the new Headteacher will ensure the school continues to flourish.
On the retirement of our current Headteacher, the Governors are seeking to appoint a Headteacher who:
● Is a practising Catholic who understands and supports the mission of Catholic education
● Is an inspirational leader with a clear vision for the future of the school, building on current success and momentum
● Leads by example with a positive, ‘can-do’ approach that inspires commitment from students, staff and the wider community
● Works in close partnership with All Saints’ Academy Trust to support continued growth and improvement
● Has a proven track record of raising standards in teaching, learning and pupil outcomes
● Will prepare the school to secure ‘Exceptional’ judgements at the next Ofsted inspection
