We are seeking a dynamic and inspirational Headteacher to lead St Wilfrid’s, embracing its Catholic ethos and culture with a strong commitment to continued school improvement.
Due to the pending retirement of our current Headteacher, the Governors of our flagship school wish to appoint an experienced, ambitious and highly accomplished professional who is a committed practising Catholic. The successful candidate will continue to nurture and promote the school’s culture and Catholic ethos. This is a fantastic opportunity for a visionary leader to build upon our outstanding achievements and take our school from strength to strength.
St Wilfrid’s is an “Outstanding Catholic School” where “staff are excellent role models” and where students say that the school “feels like a family where people care for each other” (Catholic Schools Inspection 2024).
The strength of community here at St Wilfrid’s is a strong one based upon mutual respect. Our staff work incredibly hard and are prepared to go the extra mile for the students in their charge. Our students are amazing and they contribute enormously to making the school such a welcoming and productive place. Our most recent Catholic School Inspection Report (October 2024)and our Ofsted Report (March 2023) certainly reinforce this aspect of school life.
Our school has a strong reputation for academic excellence, exceptional pastoral care, and a vibrant, inclusive community. We pride ourselves on providing a supportive and ambitious learning environment where every student is encouraged to fulfill their potential—academically, spiritually, and personally.
Rooted in our Catholic values, we place Gospel teachings at the heart of everything we do, nurturing a culture of respect, compassion, and service. Our dedicated staff team works collaboratively to provide a broad and engaging curriculum, enriched by a wide range of extracurricular opportunities that enable students to develop confidence, character, and lifelong skills.
We enjoy strong partnerships with parents, parishes, and the wider community, and we are committed to developing young people who are well‑prepared to contribute positively to society. Our next Headteacher will have the privilege of leading a school with a clear moral purpose, a committed staff body, and a joyful, aspirational student community.
This is a school that wants to be the very best it can be. Do you want to be part of that? The successful candidate will be first and foremost, an excellent and passionate teacher with a commitment to inclusive education and a clear understanding of what constitutes outstanding teaching. They will hold a desire to drive improvement in the development of learning and teaching, in ITT/ECT development and whole school improvement, so St Wilfrid’s continues to be a school that students are proud of and where students thrive.
