Mathematics at Our Lady’s is taught by an experienced and dedicated team of specialist teachers, delivering a knowledge-rich and carefully sequenced curriculum that builds students’ fluency, reasoning and problem-solving skills year on year. Students benefit from specialist classrooms, high-quality resources and a departmental culture of collaboration, with curriculum meetings timetabled into the school day. We aim to develop confident, numerate young people who see the relevance and power of Mathematics in their everyday lives and future careers.
At KS3 students are taught in banded attainment groups, building a secure foundation of core skills before progressing to setted groups according to current attainment at KS4. At KS4 we use the Edexcel GCSE Mathematics specification, with the curriculum designed to stretch and support students of all abilities towards the highest possible outcomes.
