The Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School is seeking a Head of Economics and Business to join our community of dedicated educators from 1st September 2026. We welcome both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers for this permanent role, offering the opportunity to teach a diverse range of abilities within a school renowned for its strong academic outcomes and deeply rooted Catholic values.

Key Responsibilities

• As the Head of Economics and Business, you will:
• Lead and manage the Economics and Business Department ensuring the highest standards of teaching and learning, designing and implementing a broad, balanced and innovative curriculum, and improving student outcomes
• Deliver engaging and comprehensive lessons, fostering a love for the subject and high standards of attainment
• Lead on curriculum development, shaping schemes of work and resources to ensure relevance and depth in line with national standards
• Lead on departmental activities, including field trips and enrichment programmes, to support a well-rounded learning experience
• Track and support pupil progress, providing feedback and reporting to parents to ensure each student achieves their potential
• Act as a Form Tutor, offering pastoral support, promoting positive behaviour, and instilling self-discipline

What We Are Looking For

Our ideal candidate:

• Holds a good honours degree in Economics, Business or a related discipline, along with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Is committed to personal development
• Brings excellent knowledge of the subject, curriculum requirements and exam specifications
• Possesses strong organizational skills, a proactive approach to lesson planning and effective classroom management skills
