Caretaker

REQUIRED TO START AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

NJC P7-11 £30,288 – £32,070

Full time

Our school is very highly regarded, heavily oversubscribed and enjoys consistently outstanding examination results. Finchley Catholic is a very rewarding place to work with a supportive collegiate atmosphere. The school site is complex with a variety of buildings ranging from the late 1800s to 2014. We also have playing fields at a separate location nearby. There are ambitious plans to develop the site as well as an intensive programme of works planned on existing buildings. We are looking to appoint a caretaker who can support our school site team with a new stage in its development as we head towards our centenary.

Do you have:

·         Experience in  maintaining the up keep of buildings and the site with a good knowledge of services and compliance

·         Strong IT skills to manage records and systems online

·         The ability to undertake small scale repairs and maintenance

·         Good verbal and written communication skills

·         A ‘can-do’ approach to running day to day operations with the flexibility to adapt at short notice

·         Confidence with dealing with third party contractors

We can offer you:

·         An outstanding opportunity to play a pivotal role in supporting and developing the school premises

·         A friendly, vibrant and caring school where staff are really valued

·         A varied role with scope to make a difference

·         A strong commitment to training and a staff wellbeing

·         A well being day off after 1 year’s service

FCHS is committed to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and as such all candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Candidates wishing to visit the school are welcome to do so by appointment. An application form for this post can
be downloaded from our website and should be returned to the Headteacher, Niamh Arnull, at recruitment@finchleycatholic.org.uk.  The closing date is noon on Friday 23rd January 2026 and interviews will take place during the following week, although we reserve the right to interview suitably qualified and talented candidates in advance of the closing date.

Applications from non-Catholics who are willing to support the values and ethos of a Catholic school are warmly invited
