New Hall School is seeking to appoint an outstanding graduate to join the Economics & Business Department for a one-year structured development programme. This role offers a unique opportunity for a recent graduate in Business, Economics, or a related discipline, to gain experience within a leading Catholic independent boarding and day school.
The successful candidate will support teaching and enrichment within the Economics & Business Department whilst also gaining exposure to business and operational functions across the School, including contributing to New Hall School Enterprises and project work. The programme includes mentoring, professional development and the chance to explore future career pathways. Candidates interested in teaching may have the opportunity to be considered for a teacher training pathway the following year.
The role would suit a graduate who is enthusiastic about their subject, keen to work with young people and interested in gaining a broad range of experience across different educational and business functions, in order to guide the next steps in their career. This programme will provide the successful candidate with an ideal opportunity to develop a wide range of skills that will be appealing to future employers.
Key responsibilities:
- to assist in developing students’ interest and understanding of Economics and Business
- to support teaching and learning in the Economics & Business Department
- to support the Department’s clubs, societies and other co-curricular activities
- to assist the Department in supporting New Hall School Enterprises and related initiatives
- to do project work and gain experience across selected business and operational functions of the School (e.g. Finance and Human Resources)
- to contribute to the wider life of the School community
- to engage with the School’s CPD and mentoring opportunities and reflect on professional development
- to promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people in accordance with the School’s safeguarding policies
The successful candidate will be expected:
- to have a clear understanding of, and commitment to, the aims of a Catholic independent boarding and day school and the values expressed in the Mission and Ethos Statement
- to be educated to degree level in Business, Business Management, Economics, Finance or a related discipline
- to have excellent communication skills, including a high standard of spoken and written English
- to have strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- to demonstrate initiative, drive and enthusiasm to support students’ learning in Economics and Business
- to understand the importance of promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children
- to be able to relate well to students and take an interest in their personal development
- to be able to work flexibly as the needs of the role dictate, including occasional evening and weekend commitments
- to be well organised and effective in managing time and priorities
- to be able to work collaboratively as part of a team
- to have an interest in education
- to be a practising Catholic (desirable)
- to have experience of boarding/Catholic/independent education (desirable)
- to have experience tutoring or supporting young people (desirable)

New Hall School offers an exceptional working environment. The main campus occupies the stunning Grade I listed former Tudor palace of Beaulieu.
