“The governing body and leaders support pupils’ wider development. They are committed to making sure that pupils are prepared well for life in modern Britain” Ofsted , October 2022

The school was judged “good” by Ofsted in October 2022 and “outstanding” by the Archdiocese of Southwark in June 2025.  Our Roman Catholic, Salesian school, in the heart of Battersea, strives to ensure that all its young people are given the opportunity and support they need to achieve their best, fulfil their true potential and go out into the world confident and ready to ‘earn their own bread.’

The Governors are seeking to recruit an Attendance Outreach and Learning Mentor.  The Attendance Outreach and Learning Mentor will support the school in improving student attendance and engagement by working with pupils and families to address barriers to learning and attendance.  The post holder will contribute to attendance processes, provide mentoring support and work collaboratively with staff and other external agencies under the direction of the Head of Learning.

It is an exciting time to join St John Bosco College as we continue our journey towards being an outstanding Roman Catholic, Salesian school, now that we are fully settled into our state-of-the-art building in the heart of Battersea.  Our success can be credited to our committed and dedicated staff who strive for excellence and promote high aspirations throughout the school.

The successful candidate will:

  • Support pupils attendance being at or above 95%
  • Re-engage pupils with attending school through mentoring, 1:1 sessions and in class support
  • Promote pupil well being
  • Develop a positive relationship with the families and help them to overcome barriers to attendance
  • Collect pupils from home and accompany them to school
  • To liaise with pupils, parents and professionals as appropriate
  • Working with colleagues across the school to support pupil welfare
  • Commitment to ensuring that all pupils in the school are supported to achieve their best
  • Be fully supportive of the school’s Roman Catholic ethos and able to contribute to the wider life of the school

We reserve the right to appoint before the closing date if we find a suitable candidate.

Closing date: 9AM Tuesday 14th April 2026

Interview Date: TBC

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
