Arts and Technology Technician

Are you passionate about supporting creative and practical learning? We are looking for a proactive and organised Arts and Technology Technician to join our team and support students and staff across a range of dynamic subject areas.

Working across the Art department, Design and Technology, Performing Arts, and Food Technology, you will play a key role in preparing materials, maintaining equipment, and ensuring that learning environments are safe, organised, and ready for engaging, hands-on lessons. You will support both staff and students in delivering high-quality practical work and help foster creativity, confidence, and technical skill development.

You will report to the Head of Design and Technology and work closely with a collaborative and supportive team of teaching and support staff across the creative and technical departments.

Why Join St. Ambrose?

Our three-year trend of results places us among the top-performing secondaries in Salford. Our mantra of ‘improving on previous best’ means we’re always striving to be better. We are an excellent school on a journey to secure Inclusive Catholic Excellence. We value the opinions of our staff, pupils, and parents, who consistently tell us we are doing well. If Ofsted inspections are important to you, feel free to review our report – but we encourage you to visit us in person, walk the corridors, speak to pupils and staff, and make your own judgement.

In a recent staff survey, 83% of colleagues highlighted strong professional relationships and 82% reported high levels of job satisfaction – both significantly above national benchmarks – reflecting our positive, supportive, and collaborative culture.

Every day, we live out our Catholic mission to Love, Learn and Lead.

At St. Ambrose, we prioritise staff well-being and foster a positive, inclusive culture:

  • Work-Life Balance: Flexible policies, including Flexi Days, pet bereavement leave, and supportive dependents/parental leave for all staff.
  • Employee Support: Access to an Employee Assistance Programme offering mental health, financial, legal advice, and life coaching.
  • Community: Regular staff recognition through nominations and ‘Thank an Educator’ Day.
  • Perks: Free online GP appointments including free physio therapy, end-of-term staff breakfasts, free onsite parking, and staff clubs including book, running, football, and reading.
  • Schemes: Cycle to Work and Technology Schemes, Byond Card.

Our staff attendance is high, the school is fully staffed, and many staff have been with us long-term – a testament to our positive environment and supportive leadership.

You’ll be part of a great team with strong CPD opportunities and a genuine commitment to work-life balance. Our lunchtime reading and research clubs for staff are very well attended and help keep our teaching fresh and inspiring.

We’re a welcoming school – you’ll even have a laugh while you work. Recent colleagues have said that joining St. Ambrose reinvigorated their love of teaching and strengthened their desire to stay in the profession. We believe in retaining our staff and pupils alike.

We are inclusive, SEND-focused, trauma-informed, and maintain high expectations and standards. We never give up on children. Our outcomes and attendance for vulnerable pupils exceed national averages for SEND and disadvantaged groups, yet we continue to strive for true equity.

Our pupils are respectful, kind, and committed – a calm environment where staff can teach and students can learn.
