Overview of Role Expectations
St. Joseph’s College is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher of Mathematics to join our team. The successful candidate will teach Key Stage 3, 4, and 5 Mathematics, ensuring high standards of learning, achievement, and development for all students. You will play an integral part in supporting the school’s Lasallian Catholic ethos and will be responsible for delivering exceptional Maths teaching in alignment with national standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Teaching & Learning: Deliver engaging, well-structured Mathematics lessons aligned with the National Curriculum and departmental schemes of work. Inspire students to achieve high academic standards and progress. Regularly assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and maintain accurate records. Implement effective teaching strategies catering to diverse learning needs, including SEND/EAL students, in collaboration with the inclusion team.
- Departmental Contributions: Support the Head of Maths in curriculum planning, monitoring teaching quality, and ensuring progression across key stages. Assist in evaluating teaching and learning strategies within the department. Contribute to curriculum discussions, departmental meetings, and reviews. Take responsibility for agreed departmental initiatives and projects. Participate in Open Evenings and other school events to promote the department.
- Classroom & Student Management: Maintain high expectations for student behaviour, ensuring a positive and disciplined learning environment. Set work for absent students when required. Take accurate registers at the beginning of each lesson.
- Pastoral & Extra Curricular: Contribute to the school’s pastoral care system and take on assigned duties. Support and lead extra-curricular activities that extend students’ learning experiences. Organise and participate in educational visits that enrich the curriculum.
