MPS/UPS – Full Time

Required for: September 2024 or sooner

You will be joining an outstanding department which is fully resourced, and you will have the opportunity to teach English to pupils across KS3, KS4 and KS5 if you are interested in Post 16 teaching. We have a very popular Post 16 provision in the English department which includes both Language and Literature, and Literature at A Level.

TLRs are available with this position for suitable candidates who wish to extend their experience. We welcome applications from ECTs and those new to their careers as well as experienced teachers. We have a very supportive team, who will support you as your career progresses.

Our outcomes last academic year were outstanding with a progress score of 0.86 which we are extremely proud of, and we are looking for a Teacher of English whose passion and excellent subject knowledge can further develop the achievement of our students. Fundamentally, you will encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve to the best of their ability and encourage a love of English!

Within the English department, we take every opportunity to support each other, and we have a well-planned and heavily resourced curriculum to share best practice and support staff wellbeing. Every teaching room has a visualiser, IWB and we have a suite of computers within the department to support learning. We promote a love of reading and work regularly and closely with our librarian, participating in Harry Potter Book Days and World book days – anything to share our love of reading with the students!

Cardinal Newman is a highly successful 11-18 Catholic comprehensive school set in 37-acre grounds in the pleasant outskirts of Coventry.
