Teacher of Art and DT – Part Time/Full Time

Required from September 2024

ECT/MPS/UPS (Fringe) (£31,350 – £47,839 Pro Rata)

We seek applications from those of the Catholic faith, all faiths and of no faith but who are supportive of our Christian values and ethos.

We require a talented and enthusiastic Teacher of Art and DT from September 2024 to teach across the full age and ability range. The successful candidate will work within a dedicated team of Art and DT teachers and support staff.

The Art department has a very strong track record of success at GCSE and A Level, with results that far exceed the national average.

DT is a popular subject at St Mary’s throughout KS3 and at GCSE, and is continued at KS5. The DT department includes Food and Nutrition and Product Design, and operates a rotation of subjects on a carousel basis to all pupils at KS3. It has purpose-built facilities for the teaching of D&T, Textiles, Food, Art, Resistant Materials and Graphics. In September 2024 we will also be introducing the option of Photography at KS5.

The right candidate will have excellent academic and exam knowledge and be supported by a cast of professional colleagues within a dedicated studio and teaching space. You will be self-motivated, organised and confident. Students’ behaviour at St Mary’s is exemplary and parental support is outstanding, allowing an excellent environment to develop your career further among our reflective and supportive staff.

We are passionately committed to developing staff and managing workload to ensure that colleagues enjoy their work and recognise St. Mary’s as an almost-uniquely positive place to teach and enjoy their careers.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. A DBS disclosure is required for all successful applicants. St Mary’s is committed to the equality of opportunity for all applicants, and we reserve the right to interview on a rolling basis, therefore an early application is advisable.

Apply in writing using the forms available on our website www.stmarys.net: Teacher Application Form, Consent to Obtain References Form, Rehabilitation of Offenders Form & Recruitment Monitoring Form. Applicants are reminded that they should read the Notes to Applicants before completing an application. Please note only applications on St Mary’s forms will be accepted. Please contact Recruitment@stmarys.net to submit an application or for more information.
