Founded in 1802 and set in a beautiful Yorkshire valley, Ampleforth College is the world’s foremost Catholic boarding school, welcoming girls and boys of all faiths aged 11-18. Each student’s unique talents are recognised and nurtured within a welcoming community rooted in Benedictine values.

We are looking to appoint a well-qualified and enthusiastic Teacher of Business Studies (Vocational Studies & Enterprise), who is committed to giving students the confidence to search for answers, to be inquisitive and turn interests into enthusiasms. It would be an advantage for candidates to have prior experience of KS4 vocational business qualifications particularly Cambridge Nationals. In this role, you will be expected to teach the following subjects:

  • A Level Business
  • BTEC Enterprise and Entrepreneurship
  • Cambridge National Enterprise and Marketing

The Economics and Business department is a friendly, thriving department with excellent resources, which prioritises student enjoyment and engagement with the subject, and ensures progress for all students. Lessons are taught in a modern, purpose-built facility, where we operate an open-door policy to students who are able to access regular teacher support, both in small groups and one-to-one settings, no matter the ability. Within the department there are numerous active societies such as JCB Challenge, Young Entrepreneurs and the Economics Society.

Responsible to the Head of Vocational Studies, with close links to the Head of Economics and Business Studies, the successful candidate will have the ability to develop talents and enthusiasms of students of all abilities. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Ampleforth team. The successful candidate will satisfy all criteria and checks relating to suitability to work in a school environment. This post would be suitable for either an experienced teacher or an early career teacher (ECT).

In return we offer the following benefits:-

  • Membership of the Teachers Pension Scheme
  • Free meal during working hours
  • A generous Bounty scheme for referral of new staff
  • Subsidised on-site gym membership
  • Free car parking on site
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Employee assistance programme
  • Staff Lodging (where available)
  • A friendly and supportive working environment
  • 10% Staff Discount at Ampleforth Abbey Shop and Tearooms
  • Fee remission (at the Head’s discretion)
