The Governors are looking to appoint a hard-working, inspiring and talented Subject Leader of Geography to join our existing team and help take St Oscar Romero Catholic School and Sixth Form into the next chapter of its exciting journey. Our school has been on a rapid journey of improvement over recent years, something that was recognised in July 2019 when our school was judged outstanding in all categories in its Diocesan Section 48 inspection. Last year, 84% of students achieved at least a Grade 4 in both English and Maths. The Progress 8 score for the school was +0.89. Our challenge this year is to improve even further on that.

The Geography department is a creative and energetic team with an ethos of excellence. They are always looking for new ways to deliver the curriculum that excite, stretch and provoke curiosity in our students. Their excellent results are evidence of their deep commitment to our students.

The role of Subject Leader for Geography is fundamental to the school’s vision and future success. There is the possibility of teaching A-Level for the right candidate.

If you have a passion to see young people succeed, are motivated and resilient and support our Catholic ethos, please download an application pack from our website www.stromeros.co.uk. Please only use the application form included in the pack and follow the instructions on how to apply which can be found in the introductory letter.

Key facts about our school:

·        Outstanding GCSE results and an upward trend in all subjects

·        Progress 8 score of +0.89 in 2024, placing us in the top 2% of schools in the country

·        Geography outcomes 2024 83% Grade 4+, 74% Grade 5+ 32% Grade 7+

The school’s next inspection will be a graded inspection’

·        New small academic Sixth Form, with highly aspirational students who want to learn
