The SENDCO, under the direction of the Assistant Head (Inclusion) and the Headteacher, will:
· Determine the strategic development of special educational needs (SEN) policy and provision in the school
· Be responsible for day-to-day operation of the SEND policy and co-ordination of specific provision to support individual pupils with SEND or a disability
· Provide professional guidance to colleagues, working closely with staff, parents and other agencies
· Be expected to fulfil the professional responsibilities of a teacher, as set out in the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document.
The successful candidate will need to:
· To be able to liaise effectively with parents, carers and external agencies to support our children in being the best they can be
· Be an excellent, well qualified classroom practitioner
· Be dedicated to raising the achievement of all pupils through high standards and expectations
· Be able to work as part of a vibrant and energetic team
· Have good understanding of the national curriculum
· Provide a positive and effective learning environment to all children in your care
· Inspire, challenge and motivate all learners
· Have excellent record keeping skills
· Support the mission, vision and aims of our Catholic Primary School
