This is a fixed-term position initially until 31/08/2025. This position is 32.5, hours per week, 39 weeks a year (term-time plus INSET days, holidays to be taken in non-term time).

Your role will be to support students across the school by developing an understanding of the student’s specific needs in order to help them learn as effectively as possible, whilst ensuring their safety and well-being.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Individual and Small Group Instruction: Provide personalised reading and language acquisition support to pupils, including those with EAL needs, in one-on-one and small group settings.
- Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Assess students’ reading and language levels and monitor their progress, setting clear, achievable goals to support language and literacy growth.
- Support for EAL Pupils: Develop and implement effective strategies to assist EAL students in learning English, building vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency. Use a variety of resources tailored to the needs of EAL learners.
- Lesson Planning: Collaborate with classroom teachers to plan and deliver engaging, curriculum-aligned lessons that reinforce reading and language skills. Adapt resources to suit the unique needs of each pupil or group.
- Progress Reports: Prepare regular progress reports for teachers, parents, and the Learning Support team, highlighting achievements, areas for development, and next steps in learning.
- Resource Development: Develop and maintain a bank of resources, including bilingual materials and visual aids, to support language acquisition and make learning accessible for all students.
- Collaborative Support: Work closely with the SENDCO and Reading Support team to develop strategies for inclusive education, ensuring EAL pupils can participate fully in school activities.
- Cultural Sensitivity: Foster an inclusive, respectful, and supportive learning environment that is responsive to the diverse cultural backgrounds of pupils, celebrating linguistic diversity within the school community.
