RE: Head of Year

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding teacher with a passion for pastoral care to join our inspiring Pastoral Leadership Team as a Head of Year. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and dedicated teacher looking for career development or a new challenge in a supportive environment.

The successful candidate will be hardworking, ambitious and dynamic; and will share our commitment to high standards of professionalism, academic achievement, and excellent pastoral care. The role requires a leader who is 100% aligned to SJB’s values, mission and approach. This role will provide the opportunity to be mentored and nurtured as a leader in one of the highest-performing and most forward-thinking schools in the country.

We recognised how crucial this role is to the success of the students and we believe that SJB provides the systems and processes in which you can thrive as a Head of Year, making time for successes and personal development alongside day-to-day pastoral care.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience of raising attainment in a leadership role;
  • Evidence of outstanding classroom practice and developing learning and teaching within your subject;
  • Evidence of leading and teaching across KS3 and KS4.

This is a challenging and exciting role which places its holder in a position of influence and accountability over the lives of a cohort of students at SJB. You will have the opportunity to shape culture in your year group by leading your year team to ensure superb outcomes for your students. The precise year group you will be working with would be based around the needs of the school at the time and we would expect a successful applicant to be capable and willing to lead any year group in the future.

We welcome applications from teachers of any subject areas, although we will look favourably on applicants who have experience teaching Business Studies, Economics, Maths, Science or RE.
