St Catherine's School

St Catherine’s is a school very proud of its friendly atmosphere, excellent pastoral care and strong academic reputation. We see our Catholic mission and ethos as central to this identity and also celebrate our inclusive, ecumenical community. All members of the School are encouraged to learn about and reflect on their own faith and to reflect on the values which can enhance their experiences of life and relationships. It is a requirement of the School that all staff are sympathetic to the School’s religious character.

We seek an experienced teacher to take on the role of Head of Department; the successful candidate may have previous experience as a HoD, other leadership experience, or the aspiration and skills to lead.

You will build on these strengths and manage the curriculum, teaching and learning in an innovative, rigorous and creative manner. We are looking for an enthusiastic and well-qualified graduate who will inspire pupils and who can engage sympathetically with young people. You will be able to teach across the whole range of ability and to all year groups in the Senior School and will have a strong knowledge of curriculum development in Religious Education.

Working with the Chaplain, you will assist with the programme of retreats, services and other chaplaincy events. An interest in and a commitment to pupil service and volunteer opportunities would also be welcome. The Head of RE also works closely with the Head of Prep and the Head of Catholic Life to ensure whole-school goals are addressed.

The department is well resourced and situated in attractive and bright classrooms. The team prides itself on its care of girls and its strong tradition of value-based teaching.

If you feel you have the experience, enthusiasm and commitment we are looking for, then we would be delighted to receive an application from you.
