We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and ambitious teacher to lead Politics at St Andrew’s. Politics is part of the History and Politics department and it is a very strong with a team of seven excellent specialist teachers. Students at St Andrew’s really enjoy their History lessons and it is a popular option at GCSE with 170 students sitting it each year. The results at GCSE are very strong with progress in the top 10% nationally for each of the past 10 years. In 2023 98.1% of the students achieved 4+ at GCSE and well over 50% achieved 7+. Both History and Politics are very popular AS and A Level subjects. We have 3 to 4 groups of AS History, 3 to 4 Groups of AS Politics and the same at A Level. The results are consistently very strong with History being 90% A*-B for the past five years and Politics achieving 100% A*-B since it was introduced 3 years ago. Politics as an A Level has grown from 10 students in its first year to almost 50 currently in both Years 12 and 13.
