Bonus Pastor is a really exciting place to work, with innovative £22 million buildings and amazing facilities. Bonus Pastor is seeking a dynamic and inspiring leader who can lead our vibrant and committed Maths Department. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled teacher to lead a friendly, hard-working and supportive Maths team consisting of nine exceptional practitioners, who have a range of experience.

We are looking to appoint a leader who shares our commitment to high standards of professionalism, academic achievement for all students and is eager to develop their own practice in an environment that is both supportive and at the cutting edge of pedagogy and practice. The department takes a collaborative approach to learning and teaching and regularly come together to share best practice and develop their subject pedagogy. They are looking for a strong leader who has a genuine passion for Maths, the development of teaching for mastery and for teaching children; the ability to inspire students; and the desire to go the extra mile to help our students achieve their full potential.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate an excellent understanding of teaching for mastery and have evidence of implementing it within both their own practice; evidence of implementing it within a curriculum is essential. The ability to model exemplary leadership behaviours to refine current practices within the department will be an essential skill set for the successful candidate. They will have a proven track record of outstanding exam results at GCSE. The successful candidate will be well supported and have access to significant future professional development opportunities both within and beyond the department.

Main Duties:

  • Support our Catholic ethos and mission
  • To liaise with fellow middle leaders & the school senior leadership to ensure the delivery of an ambitious, comprehensive, and high quality curriculum programme which complements the School Development Plan
  • To deliver the KS3 Maths curriculum in accordance with the national curriculum and GCSE Specification
  • To encourage and drive innovation in curriculum and pedagogy within the department in order to ensure all pupils are stretched and challenged
  • To keep up to date with and respond to national developments in the subject area and teaching practice and methodology

Teaching:

  • Qualified teacher status
  • A clear understanding of the National Curriculum in Mathematics
  • The ability to inspire and raise attainment, achievement and aspirations for all students
  • Have the ability to inspire and motivate and be able to develop the potential of colleagues and students
  • Ability to use ICT effectively in the teaching of Mathematics and share good practice within the department
  • The ability to collaborate and work effectively within a team and draw upon own initiative
  • A commitment to continually developing high quality teaching and learning through a range of appropriate teaching strategies
  • Ability to self-evaluate and adopt strategies to enhance teaching performance in Mathematics
  • An understanding of assessment in Mathematics
  • Ability to use data effectively in understanding the strengths and weaknesses of your own and pupil performance and inform appropriate actions across the department
  • The ability to ensure good discipline within the working environment
  • The ability to work efficiently and work to deadlines and meet targets
  • Be supportive of the aims and ethos of the Catholic school
  • Ensure high standards are maintained in all areas of work
  • An understanding of Equal Opportunities generally and within secondary schools specifically
