The Governors seek to appoint a Head of Maths (TLR 1c)

To start September 2024 or sooner

The role:

This role is suitable for a highly effective secondary teacher of Maths or current Second Department.

As Head of Maths, your primary role will be to lead and support the Maths team to improve outcomes for pupils across all phases, working closely with our Primary Phase Maths leader to ensure a well sequenced through-school curriculum which supports progression. You will support colleagues in delivering highly effective Maths lessons at KS3 and 4 which inspire and motivate pupils to learn well and achieve their potential and be an excellent Maths practitioner with knowledge and experience of teaching for mastery.

You will be passionate about teaching and learning, and have a proven track record of delivering highly engaging and effective Maths lessons securing strong outcomes of your own and leading others in doing so.

If successful, you will be teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4 (currently, the department uses GCSE Pearson Edexcel specification) and you will work closely with the Maths primary phase leader to support both the secondary and primary phase subject teachers to drive up standards. The Maths team are committed to continuous professional development and to securing the best possible outcomes for our pupils. They work closely with the South Yorkshire Hub of the NCETM and are participating in the programme ‘Teaching for Mastery’: they are in the third year of this journey. Curriculum content and sequencing is well planned and next steps are focused on the effective  implementation of planning in lessons. This will be your primary area of focus if you are successful in your application.
