This is an excellent opportunity to join a friendly, dynamic school where all can thrive who were inspected by Ofsted in February 2025 and are awaiting the result. We value our staff and want to develop them to the full in a supportive environment. We are looking for a candidate who has a passion for Chemistry, is forward thinking, innovative and committed to excellence.
As a department, Science is leading the implementation of a knowledge-rich curriculum as well as embedding Rosenshine’s principles of instruction and ELKLAN communication strategies.
At KS3, students study a knowledge-rich curriculum that has been developed to allow pupils to see the interconnected nature of the specialisms within science. At KS4, pupils can study either the separate science or combined science specifications which offer pupils the opportunity to follow their academic passions at an appropriately challenging depth and breadth. The successful candidate will work closely with the existing specialists within the department to support our mission in allowing all students to make progress. The results of our separate science Chemistry class have increased year on year since 2018. The impressive P8 in 2024, 1.58, is a testament to the hard work of our students, staff, and to the support of parents. Our A-level Chemistry programme is highly popular and successful, and achievement has been consistently strong with students making excellent progress. This year, Chemistry had a very successful practical endorsement moderation confirming the secure practices we have in this area. The majority of Chemistry students go on to study Chemistry related courses at university
