Chaplain – term time only

£20,000 to £30,000 (dependent on the experience of the successful candidate)

“This is an outstanding school… The Leadership of the school’s provision for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) is exemplary. Pupils with SEND make progress which is well above national”. Ofsted March 2019.

In addition, our Section 48 report carried out in October 2019 describes St. Gregory’s as an outstanding Catholic school in all aspects of its work. ‘Pupils, parents and staff are very proud of their school, and rightly so. This is an outstanding, vibrant Catholic school in which staff work hard to give the best educational experience to pupils.’

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and gifted person to join our staff as Chaplain, promoting the Catholic ethos of the school and helping students and staff to grow in faith and their love for the Lord. The successful candidate will be a practising Catholic with the ability to animate worship in a creative way and have a heart for the Church and its call to evangelise. They will also have the ability to work alongside others in a supportive and nurturing way.

If you are passionate about developing spirituality within a community setting and full of energy with the skills and experience for the role, we would love to hear from you.

The mission statement gives direction to the Chaplain’s work, which is essentially:

• To enrich the life of the school through prayer, presence, liturgy, retreat and charity work

• To support individuals and the school community in their journey of faith

• To meet and walk alongside those in difficulty

• To counsel and provide a listening ear to all

• To be a bridge builder, and help maintain and heal relationships

St Gregory’s Catholic Science College has been identified by OFSTED in March 2019 as an outstanding school in all areas of its practice; by the DfE as a National Lead Behaviour School and by the SSAT as a High Attaining School. Pupil behaviour is excellent and we have a happy and cohesive staff.

Effective safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils is our utmost priority. Shortlisted candidates will be subject to online searches in line with the latest Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance. References will be sought and the successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check. A respect for the Catholic ethos of the school is essential.
