The Douay Martyrs School (part of the Diocese of Westminster Academy Trust-DoWAT) would like to employ a full time Learning Support Assistant (LSA) with experience of working with SEN pupils.
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours of Work: Monday-Friday, 8:30am –3:30pm
The Douay Martyrs School are seeking a patient, nurturing and compassionate individual to work as a SEN Learning Support Assistant with some of our most vulnerable pupils.
The candidate will be responsible for working alongside class teachers across KS3 and KS4 with pupils with SEN needs. The role involves assisting the SEN pupils with their work and supporting with student behaviour whilst establishing effective relationships with both students and staff. This maybe larger classes as well as smaller nurture groups.
An experience of working with pupils with Speech Language and Communication Difficulties (SLCN) is desirable but not essential. ELKAN Certified training will be provided to the successful candidate.
The role will also include playground supervision during breaktime and lunchtime on scheduled days.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who likes a challenge and enjoys working in with pupils who need additional and sometimes significant support with their learning. Experience of working in a secondary environment are not essential as the skills acquired in a primary school setting are very transferable to KS3 and KS4. This may suit someone who has significant experience in KS2 and would enjoy the challenge of supporting the transition of SEN pupils from primary to secondary school. The landscape of the school day would involve movement between classes, subjects and departments. We have a split campus, so this would involve movement between buildings across a busy road.
