Are you an inspiring and ambitious teacher of Psychology ready to join a growing, high-achieving School Sixth Form and take on the role of leading a Psychology department ? St Mary’s Sixth Form has a strong track record of success at A Level, with a good proportion of students heading to university each year to study Psychology or Psychology related subjects. We are passionately committed to developing staff and managing workload to ensure that colleagues enjoy their work and recognise St. Mary’s as an almost-uniquely positive place to teach and enjoy their careers.
The successful candidate would be expected to teach across the full ability range, and lead the Psychology department in a highly successful and innovative subject with an impressive track record. Psychology is a very popular subject in Sixth Form with fantastic classroom and new facilities and the ideal candidate will be able to negotiate the leadership of the subject.
Our previous OFSTED inspection judged us as Outstanding in every category, and our most recent S48 Inspection (2018) also judged us as Outstanding in every area. Over the last 4 years, exam results have risen at both GCSE & A Level. Our ‘Progress 8’ score for 2018 was +0.61, which put the school in the top 10% in the country, and we are again ‘Above Average’ in 2019. At A Level the proportion of A*-B Grades as well as students enrolling at elite Russell Group Universities has risen significantly over each of the last 4 years with 2018 breaking all school records.
The right candidate will have excellent academic and exam knowledge and be supported by a cast of professional colleagues within a dedicated fully-renovated teaching space. You will be self-motivated, organised and confident. Students’ behaviour at St Mary’s is exemplary and parental support is outstanding, allowing an excellent environment to develop your career further among our reflective and supportive staff.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. A DBS disclosure is required for all successful applicants. St Mary’s is committed to the equality of opportunity for all applicants, and we reserve the right to interview on a rolling basis, therefore an early application is advisable.
