We are looking for a Cover Supervisor to join our Cover Team to work across both secondary schools in Plymouth CAST from September 2021. The post involves covering a range of different subject classes of absent teachers by utilising pre-prepared tasks and ensuring the effective management of student behaviour. The primary focus will be to keep students on task and to maintain good order. Cover Supervisors will need to respond to questions and generally assist students to undertake set activities.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate excellent communication, inter-personal and organisational skills and be able to use their initiative to respond to classroom situations. Candidates should be able to demonstrate good behaviour management techniques, flexibility and an ability to work under pressure as this role requires the postholder to adapt to different demands at short notice, due to the nature of cover requirements for two busy schools. A driving licence and/or ability to travel between both schools is essential.
This position may suit a newly qualified PE/teacher who is yet to secure their first teaching post.
We expect successful candidates to show within their application, and at interview, their passion for working with young people and be able to explain how they will embrace and support the school’s ethos. We are Roman Catholic comprehensive schools, St Boniface admitting boys from year 7 – 11 and Notre Dame admitting girls from year 7 – 11 and hosting a mixed Sixth Form. We value our Catholic ethos, but you don’t need to be a Catholic to apply to work for our schools. We ask that all of our staff support our ethos and Christian attitudes.
If you feel you have the qualities we are looking for, please apply using the ‘Quick Apply’ button on the TES website to create a TES application form (you will need to create a login for TES) and see the job description and person specification for more information.
Please note that CVs are not accepted.
Closing Date: 10am, Friday 27th August 2021
Interviews: September 2021
The school operates a Safeguarding Children Recruitment Policy and is committed to promoting the welfare of young people. The successful applicant will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS disclosure.
